I am always interested to hear Major League players and coached talk about hitting. It seems as though each person has a different way to describe the same thing. While I do believe each person has to come to his or her own understanding of the process, what I continually look for are the elements common in human movement that apply to the hitting process.
In other words, what are these guys doing?
Here are three of today's elite hitters from the time of foot-plant to contact. Vladimir Guerrero during batting practice, Miguel Tejada in a regular season game, and Alex Rodriguez in a spring training game.
3 players, 3 situations, 1 basic movement.
